June First Friday "Good As Hell"
Doors 7pm / Music 8pm // FREE
"Good as Hell" features narrative art by 11 different women, with a fairly broad concept of what constitutes a narrative. It keeps alive the sentiments behind past G5 shows that featured the work of women working in male dominated practices -- and often working twice as hard just to prove they belong there -- while expanding the scope of the stories being told, and the methods used to tell them.
It's called “Good as Hell” - because we are - but also because, inspired by the Lizzo song, we want this show to be a similar kind of joyful expression of our mutual, inclusive support for one another.
And though we never did figure out how to work it into the title, we were also inspired by the words of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- in response to the question “When do you think there will be enough women on the supreme court?”, she replied “when there are nine… [There’d] been nine men, and no one’s ever raised a question about that.
